Shell Oil Introduces Semi-Synthetic Engine Oil

Shell Oil Products Co. recently introduced a new semi-synthetic engine oil for additional security in cold weather. Rotella SB Synthetic Blend is available in 10W-30 and 10W-40 SAE grades.
It will provide better cranking and pumping characteristics than conventional 15W-40 oils in low temperatures. It is also suited to turbocharged engines where high operating temperatures may cause excessive deposits.
The new oil has the same soot control, oxidation stability, and high Total Base Number as Shell’s Rotella T oil. But it has better retention, improved protection against valve-train wear, and more potential for extended drain intervals than previous Rotella T formulations.
