Cummins, Meritor Package Designed To Boost Torque

Cummins Engine Co. and Meritor Automotive have developed an engine/transmission package which adds 200 lbs.-ft. torque in the top two gears.
The package will allow operators to spec a more economical drivetrain with high torque ratings.
It is available with Cummins N14 Plus engines and Meritor 10-speed transmissions.
Cummins is offering three Smart Torque ratings:
• 370 hp with 1,450 lbs.-ft. in gears one through eight and 1,650 lbs.-ft. in ninth and tenth.
• 435 hp with 1,450 lbs.-ft. in gears one through eight and 1,650 lbs.-ft. in ninth and tenth.
• 460 hp with 1,650 lbs.-ft. in gears one through eight and 1,850 lbs.-ft. in ninth and tenth.
Meritor is offering four special Torq-2 transmissions: RM10-145AT, RMX10-145AT, and RMX10-145CT direct-drive models for the 1,450 lbs.-ft./1,650 lbs.-ft. engine ratings; and an RMX10-165CT overdrive for the 1,650 lbs.-ft./1,850 lbs.-ft. rating.
These transmissions will only be available with Cummins engines for an introductory six-month period.
