Highway Hero Search Expanded

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. is expanding its annual search for highway heroes to include the Canadian trucking industry. The Goodyear North America Highway Hero Award is enlisting the assistance of the trucking industry, law enforcement agencies and the general public in the search for heroic truckers who have risked their lives to save others.
     Previously limited to U.S. drivers, the program has expanded in the hopes of presenting a positive image of truck drivers to the widest audience possible.
     Nominations can be made by calling the Goodyear Highway Hero Hotline at (800) 627-2118. Each nominee must be a full-time truck driver, reside in the United States or Canada and have been on the job driving a rig with 14 wheels or more at the time of the incident. The event must have occurred in the United States or Canada between Oct. 1, 1997, and Sept. 30, 1998. Deadline for nominations is Oct. 15, 1998.
