Aero Clad Bumpers Offered On VNs

Hendrickson’s Aero Clad bumpers will be offered as a data book option on the Volvo VN series. The bumper is made of a highly polished layer of stainless steel clad to a thick layer of aluminum. The result is a composite material with the strength of stainless steel and the corrosion protection and light weight of aluminum. The bumpers are manufactured using a proprietary manufacturing process called compression forming, where the metal is formed in several dimensions simultaneously, creating a more aerodynamic shape.
