Oil Filter Inspired By NASCAR

Wix Filtration Products Div. has redesigned one of its full-flow/bypass oil filters with a new, patented Flow Separator.
     The filter, designed for heavy duty applications, features a high-temperature, high-strength gasket compound that is used in both the base gasket and flow separator.
     In addition, the bypass portion of the filter is made of a high-efficiency media — a polyester, fiberglass and cellulose mix — which is the same media content that the company developed for NASCAR race applications. The media was developed to meet the conditions of NASCAR racing, where oil temperatures reach more than 300° and water contaminant levels in the oil can be dangerously high.
