REMOTE DATA ANALYSIS

      Mobile communications provider PeopleNet Communications is beta-testing PerformX, a diagnostics product to help fleet managers track and manage operating costs by allowing them to view performance data from vehicles on the road at regular intervals.
      PerformX communicates with the J1708 bus and uses the same wireless technology as PeopleNet’s InTouch Fleet Management systems to send data. Performance reports (including odometer readings, idle time, fuel efficiency, excess speed and high RPM readings) are sent directly to a manager’s e-mail.
      Alarms alert managers when vehicles travel over certain speeds, make sudden starts or stops or reach certain odometer readings.
      PerformX is scheduled for release at the end of first quarter 2001 and will be offered as an option to PeopleNet’s InTouch Fleet Management systems.
