"Other than priceless times with my family, one of the greatest moments of my life was when I obtained my first dealership."
When he was 19 years old, Niebauer was severely burned over 40 percent of his body and was not expected to live. After spending nine months in the hospital, he beat the odds, and decided to spend his life working with the trucks he loved. So he bought a small bulldozer and a Mack dump truck and went into business for himself.
That was the early '60s. In 1983, when W.W. Williams Co., which he had worked with as a contractor, decided to close up shop, he bought the assets. Since then, he has acquired six other companies, including several Mack dealerships. Today, he operates nine full-service sales and parts facilities, but he is still in daily contact with all locations and personally oversees the sales of all trucks.
Niebauer's dealerships have received numerous awards from Mack Trucks, including most recently the national Mack 100 Club in 2000. At the time of the ATD application, Niebauer's operations ranked seventh in the nation for sales of Mack Trucks.
