International Launches Regional Heavy
The International 8600 tractor is the newest member of the "High Performance Truck" family and is designed for regional hauling. The 8600 can maneuver around tight loading docks with its 107-inch bumper-to-back of-cab length, a 46-inch setback wide-track front axle, 50-degree wheel cut and high-pressure power steering pump, says International.
Fuel saving aerodynamics and good forward visibility are achieved through a dramatically sloped hood and large curved windshield. Available 10-12 liter engines provide the horsepower to carry 80,000-pound distribution loads from the warehouse to the customer.
The 8600 is available in both 4x2 and 6x4 models. Optional is a 26" extended cab with a DOT-legal bunk that lifts up to provide nine cubic feet of storage space under the mattress. This cab features optional swing out side windows.
Repair is easier with faster troubleshooting and enhanced diagnostics achieved through a multiplex electrical system that eliminates 40% of the wiring in the dash panels. Serviceability is enhanced with raised cab height and routine maintenance checks are easier as driver and passenger side splash shields tilt up and away with the hood for instant engine access.
The International 8600 will begin full production this September at the International Garland, Texas, facility. The International 8600 replaces the International 8100 and International 9100 tractors.
