High Scrub Use Radial
Firestone has rolled out a new radial tire specifically designed for high scrub use, for on-highway refuse hauling, construction and pickup and delivery applications.
Called the FS560 Plus, the new Firestone radial features an all-position design, making it ideal for steer axle use, but suitable in any wheel position.
The FS560 Plus radial has a 19/32" tread depth for long original tread life, together with a solid shoulder design to help fight the turning and maneuvering scrub forces that short hauls and urban usage inflict on tires. Multiple cross-rib sipes and wide, deep "flow-through" grooves evacuate water efficiently from the footprint for precise traction, even on rain-slick city streets.
The FS560 Plus offers superb retreadability, Firestone says, thanks to four full steel belts, an all-steel casing ply, and a special, two-layer tread that combines a slow-wearing compound with a layer beneath that helps insulate the casing from damaging heat.
The Firestone FS560 Plus is available in both standard and low profile sizes, with "G" and "H" load ratings, for 22.5 and 24.5-inch wheels.
Spicer Rebate Promotion
Dana Corp. Commercial Vehicle Service Parts is presenting a $2 rebate to anyone installing an eligible Spicer replacement brake kit through Sept. 30, 2002. The new Spicer Replace-A-Brake Box Top program covers more than 130 part numbers, with each Replace-A-Brake kit including two new lined shoes and all necessary hardware for a variety of popular wheel-end assemblies.
There is no limit to the number of box tops the installer can submit, and the program simply requires that installers complete and submit and official program claim form with the original box top flaps containing the eligible part numbers and bar codes.
There are two rebate submission periods: July 1, 2002 to July 31, 2002 — for kits installed between April 1 and June 30; and Sept. 15, 2002 to Oct. 15, 2002 — for kits installed between July 1 and Sept. 30. All claims must be postmarked by midnight Oct. 15, 2002.
