      Rocor International, Oklahoma City, filed a Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection petition in early August in anticipation of the sale of the refrigerated carrier, possibly within the month. For more than a year, Rocor has worked on downsizing the company to make it profitable and attractive to potential buyers

      Prime Inc., Springfield, Mo., is implementing what it says is a unique retirement program for its owner-operator/independent contractors. The difference, they say, is this is not a 401(k) that relies on driver contributions. Instead, it is a totally company-funded program. Drivers must work for the company for 10 years in order to be fully vested. Once they're vested, drivers are entitled to a retirement payout at age 65, even if they've left the company by then.

      Nebraska-based Crete Carrier Corp. is pleased so far with results of its test run of a soybean-based fifth-wheel grease. The Waterloo (Iowa) Courier reports that Crete has been using the soy grease on about 200 trucks based out of Indianapolis.

      Schneider National, Green Bay, Wis., has named Christopher Lofgren president and chief executive officer. Lofgren, who was also appointed to the board of directors, succeeds Donald J. Schneider and becomes the third leader of the privately owned transportation and logistics company, founded in 1935. Schneider will continue as the chairman of the board.

      The Carroll Fulmer family has bought back its trucking company namesake from the Transit Group of Atlanta to form Carroll Fulmer Logistics Corp. Located in Groveland, Fla., the company is to be managed by Fulmer family members, including original owners Carroll and Barbara Fulmer. The Fulmer family sold the company to the Transit Group in 1997.
