Kenworth Offers Perks/Warranties

Kenworth Truck Co. has introduced a special "Glory and Pride" W900L promotion.
Eligible are new W900Ls with either an 86-inch Studio AeroCab or 72-inch AeroCab sleeper and post-emission change engine, purchased by Sept. 30, 2002, for build by Dec. 31, 2002. Buyers receive a "Glory and Pride" value package with up to $4,000 in vehicle upgrades. The offer, which is available in both the U.S. and Canada, features both exterior and interior options.
The exterior appearance package includes stainless steel hood emblem accents, stainless steel air cleaner fairings, custom script "Glory and Pride" on exhaust shields, 18-inch Texas square bumper with "Kenworth" cutout, four additional ribs on radiator grille, and Millennium LED light bars for cab, sleeper and side extenders. The interior option package features Kenworth Premium Plus leather seats, dual leather armrests, Alpine AM/FM/CD stereo and XM Satellite Radio kit.
For a limited time, Kenworth is also providing a Cummins extended warranty at no additional charge. To qualify, customers must purchase a Kenworth heavy duty truck powered by either a Cummins ISX or ISM 2002 EPA-certified engine between Oct. 1, 2002, and Jan. 31, 2003. The additional coverage is available in the U.S. and Canada for Kenworth's T600, T800, W900, T2000 and C500 models.
Under the Cummins protection plan for 2002 EPA-certified ISX and ISM engines, buyers of new Kenworth on-highway vehicles will receive a 3-year, 300,000-mile extended warranty at no charge. That is above the current base coverage of 2 years, 250,000 miles. The extended coverage offers protection from fan hub to flywheel, including all cooled EGR subsystem components and variable geometry turbocharger. The Cummins base warranty provides Kenworth new truck buyers with 5-year, 500,000-mile standard coverage for major engine components, including all major castings and forgings.
In addition, Kenworth's vocational customers will benefit from Cummins' free, 5-year, 150,000-mile extended warranty on new Kenworth vehicles built between Oct. 1, 2002, and Jan. 31, 2003, with 2002 EPA-certified ISX and ISM engines.
Kenworth customers can save from $750 to $1,400 on Cummins' free extended warranty coverage, depending upon horsepower and application. Optional protection plans with additional coverages are also available from Cummins.

Weight-Saving Wheels Now Complimentary On New Peterbilt Trucks

Customers purchasing new Peterbilt vehicles equipped with engines certified for the Oct. 2002 EPA emissions standards can now receive two complimentary Alcoa front aluminum disc wheels, Peterbilt Motors Co. recently announced.
Spec'ing aluminum components is one way to offset any additional weight associated with post-October engines, says the company.
The new program — which is available for a limited time — is valued at up to $936 and can reduce vehicle weight up to 65 pounds versus standard wheels, depending on the size of the wheel.
Peterbilt is also offering discounts on the lightweight Flex Air suspension, and extended warranty coverage for select Cummins engines and Eaton transmissions, to help ease customer concerns about the impact engines certified for the new EPA emissions standards may have on their operations.
The aluminum wheel program is available for a limited time on new vehicles ordered through the Peterbilt dealer network or qualifying vehicles in dealer inventory. Customers interested in the program should contact their local Peterbilt dealership for further information.
