Peterbilt Big Side-View

Peterbilt has enhanced passenger-side cab visibility through a new larger side-view window and repositioned side-view mirrors. The larger side-view window and newly positioned side-view mirrors are standard on Peterbilt Models 379, 385, 378, 357 and 335. The size of the side-view window - located in the lower portion of the passenger-side door - was increased by 70 square inches, making it more than 85% larger than the previous version. The company also moved the side-view mirrors further forward by repositioning the mounting to the cab and cowl. Previously, mirrors were mounted to the doors.

Sterling A-Line Enhancements

Sterling announces significant product enhancements to its line of A-Line work trucks. Offering more safety and comfort, the Sterling A-Line updates include:
      • Aerodynamic mirrors: Sterling's new design provides increased fuel efficiency by reducing wind drag. In addition, new mirrors feature smaller heads to offer improved side and forward visibility and aluminum extrusion brackets resulting in a small weight saving on each truck.
      • Bostrom seats: The new Bostrom "Freedom" seat comes standard with a longer headrest, wider suspension, increased lumbar support, convenient adjustment features and newly designed foam density and contours. Optional features include front seat cushion adjustment, low-profile suspension, heavy-duty shock absorbers, swivel and heater.
      • Visteon scroll compressor: The scroll-type compressor used for many years in luxury and high-end automotive applications has been upgraded for heavy-duty trucking use. Utilizing fewer moving parts and having virtually no wear points compared to typical piston-type compressors, the new technology offers greater durability and is backed by a two-year warranty.
      • Relocated wiring: Sterling has relocated all chassis wiring to the bottom flange of the frame rail for easier body mounting.
All Sterling A-Line vehicles come standard with Goodyear tires. Michelin and Bridgestone tires are also available as options.<

Mack 60-inch Mid-Rise Sleeper

Mack unveils a 60-inch mid-rise sleeper to be used on its CH and Vision models. The CH and Vision model series currently consist of a 70-inch mid-rise, 48- and 56-inch flattops, and a daycab - all optimized for local and regional distribution.
The new 60-inch mid-rise sleeper is designed to meet the needs of customers looking for more interior space than the flattop designs offer without the added cost and weight of larger sleepers.
Tom Davis, Mack marketing manager for highway products, said, "Our Vision series has already established itself as a premium highway truck. Materials were chosen to buffer engine noise, reduce vibration and combat driver fatigue. Drivers love the fully electronic wraparound dash and the comfortable, roomy, air suspended cab. We also focused on overall visibility to enhance safety, and on the aerodynamics of the vehicle to enhance fuel economy."
To further enhance its highway offerings, Mack is also adding 12,000- and 14,300-pound versions to its family of UniMax front axles. Like all UniMax axles, these new versions weigh less than comparable industry front axles and feature unitized wheel hubs that are permanently sealed with synthetic grease, virtually eliminating maintenance costs.
