Four-door Quad Cab remains available, as does the two-door Regular Cab. The 5.7-liter 345-hp Hemi in the '06 Ram 1500 and 2500 is standard with a Multi-Displacement System; MDS deactivates four cylinders, turning the V-8 into a V-4 under light throttle, saving up to 20% in fuel. Cummins Turbodiesel with 610 lbs-ft. of torque is optional in the 2500. Ram 1500 gets a new box-section frame for greater stiffness, more strength and better ride. Electronic transfer case and front-axle disconnect are standard on 1500 series 4x4s.
