ArvinMeritor, PSI Streamline Delivery Of Components
ArvinMeritor and Pressure Systems International say they're using the capabilities of ArvinMeritor's Commercial Vehicle Aftermarket (CVA) group to support the sales of retrofit kits and aftermarket components for the Meritor Tire Inflation System (MTIS) by PSI.
MTIS is a simple design that is easily installed on any type of trailer, including van, liquid tank, logger, flatbed, chassis, livestock, platform, drop frame, dump, deep drop, doubles, dry bulk, reefer, auto transporter and those operated by the military.
CVA can ship orders for MTIS retrofit kits and aftermarket components from its 440,000-square-foot facility in Florence, Ky., with a minimum of processing time. Emergency order shipments are available 24 hours a day. ArvinMeritor CVA has established a toll-free hotline at (888) 725-9355.
In addition, XpresswyPlus.com, an online ordering and cataloging site allows warehouse distributors, OEMs and dealers to quickly find and order parts.
Utility TrailerOffers Single Tire,Wide Track System
Utility Trailer now offers an optional single tire and Wide Track System for increased fuel economy and safety on its 4000D-X thin-wall dry van.
Utility says the 4000D-X is ideally suited to take advantage of the weight savings, safety and increased fuel economy of Michelin's new generation single-wide tire, the X-One, which can be integrated into Utility's optional Wide Track System. This wide track suspension system includes a Hendrickson air ride slider with 6-inch wider suspension centers and 6-inch longer axles.
The 4000D-X patented thin-wall design forges an aluminum exterior skin with 80K steel interior panels separated by a core material. The 4000D-X 101 version provides a full 101<+>1/<->4-inch of inside width from lining to lining and 101 inch from wearband to wearband with 4,085 cubic feet of productivity. The 4000D-X 100 version has deeper side posts with increased stiffness for bulge loads. Pre-painted white galvanized, high strength interior lining panels provide a Snag Free surface and a full 100 inches of inside width from wearband to wearband.
The thin-wall segment is comprised of dry vans that increase the inside width within the same exterior dimensions. The 4000D-X represents Utility Trailer's thin-wall dry van, which accounted for approximately 45 percent of Utility's dry van production in 2005, compared to about 5 percent in 2001.
East Introduces Tailgate Ramp Guide
East Manufacturing has developed a new sideswing tailgate ramp guide that is easier to operate. This new feature includes a roller made from a high durability synthetic material called UHMW. It prevents top pin misalignment by guiding the gate and top pin back into position during closing, making the gate much easier and faster to close.
The guide ramp is constructed of aluminum with a specially designed self-lubricating UHMW roller. The guide ramp is now standard on all East dump trailer sideswing gate option packages.
Carrier Transicold Unveils Niagara Series
The Niagara trailer refrigeration series is the first major evolution of Carrier Transicold's X-Series. Featuring a modern new look, the single-temperature Niagara units feature superior serviceability and better sound quality.
The Niagara units feature a major exterior redesign. Panel doors are made of advanced DuraShell 2 material, a Thermoplastic Olefin composite. DuraShell 2 has structural integrity comparable to the X-Series' original DuraShell material, but with triple the impact strength, double the UV light resistance, 50 percent better thermal stability and 20 percent better heat resistance. An optional chrome package is also offered.
Niagara's improved sound quality comes from design changes and use of a quieter gearbox. The DuraShell 2 twin-sheet panel construction, acoustic foam on the interior surfaces and integrated door seals help contain sound output. The redesigned grille's wider openings reduce airflow resistance, helping to further improve sound quality.
For additional sound reduction, an optional composite bottom panel is available.
Technicians will have improved access to mechanical parts.
