Dodge Trucks

Class 3 Ram 3500 Chassis Cab, which just went into production, has a hefty frame that almost certainly makes the truck suitable for Class 4 use without much modification. This may hint at Dodge's intention to move higher in the midrange market (and suggest possible use by sister commercial truck companies looking to go lower). Like other Rams, it's built with a two-door Regular or four-door Quad Cab. Standard engine is the 5.7-liter Hemi gasoline V-8, rated at 330 horsepower in the 3500, which has V-8 to V-4 capability by virtue of Multi-Displacement System; the Hemi comes with a 6-speed manual or 5-speed automatic transmission. An optional Cummins Turbo Diesel, displacing 6.7 liters with exhaust aftertreatment, will make up to 350 horsepower and 650 pounds-feet with a new 6-speed automatic, or 610 pounds-feet with a 6-speed manual. The 325-horsepower 5.9-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel is optional in the Ram 2500 and 3500 (the latter with a box-delete option) until January, when they also get the 6.7. Dodge also has the German-made, American-assembled Sprinter in several van types and a cab-chassis version in the 3500 (Freightliner no longer sells the Sprinter). Dodge continues expanding its BusinessLink system at qualifying dealers for commercial truck users, who get priority repair service and loaner trucks in many situations.
